6 out of 8 found this review helpful

In one vivid parable--the "Story of Stone Soup"--Dr. Gold reveals what is at the heart of the entrepreneurial process. In nine additional chapters, he clearly demonstrates how, step-by-step, the reader can start his or her own business venture. Dr. Gold's lucid writing style and easy layout help to remove the veil of mystery surrounding the start-up process while imparting to the reader a feeling of, "Hey, I really can do this!"

This tiny book is packed with valuable information and advice on all critical aspects of starting up a venture, from the nuts and bolts of finances and legal issues to the all important and often overlooked human element. It is easy to read and engaging, with a good mix of fact, explanation, and tales of hard won experience. This one gets a "strong buy" rating due to value, and good P/I (page/information) ratio.

5 out of 5 stars Starting business ventures for dummies   June 28, 2006

This is by far the best and most practical of all "how to" books on starting business ventures. With simple steps and an amusing format(e.g., Five Fun Things to Do with your Lawyer), this small handbook is a gem to read. Cash Flow information is expecially helpful for beginners. There are useful milestones that can guide you in avoiding missteps in any business launch. Gold leads the reader through the techniques necessary to move a business from idea to reality. A must read.
