5 out of 5 stars Inspiring!   March 6, 2007
I really liked this easy to read inspiring book that interviews a lot of real life women business owners. It was very fun to read while I was planning my own business and gave me some things to think about too. I now have my own LLC and plan to release my first product within a couple months *I hope* ^_^

5 out of 5 stars So you want to own your own business?   February 10, 2007
This book was THE book that inspired me to start my own business. Written in a fun and informative style, Caitlin and Kimberly cover all the basics on how to get started from setting up your business as an LLC or LLP, to taxes, staffing and marketing. They also feature the stories of real-life entrepreneurs which are inspiring and educational. I have recommended this book to many friends: including male ones.

5 out of 5 stars GREAT, packed with info, good resources, gets you thinking.   February 2, 2007
Going through this book I discover new topics I need to cover in the planning stages and in my business plan. So far it's really been an informative great read. Start with this book! This book is really for anyone starting out. Has some helpful suggestions on free resources and places to go for further info (e.g. for the bus. plan, etc). Good luck in your new venture!

4 out of 5 stars A book that makes the light bulbs go off   January 27, 2007
The Authors have written a book that forces the reader to ask some necessary questions, but makes it okay to answer them - no matter what your answer is. They propose several questions related to "Should I start my business?", "What kind of business?" and "When?" These issues are basic; however, in my workshops and consulting for woman owned businesses I find that these are ones that women struggle with. This book does not provide all the answers and that's good because the answers are very circumstantial and personal. The "Girls" do a great job with the section on loans, they provide some good information and make it easy to understand. This book does not really stress the "girl thing"; it's more of a female viewpoint of business start up factors. This view point makes it very comfortable, understandable and believable. I personally want to thank the Authors for stressing research. In my years of selling, consulting and working with business development I have seen research make a huge difference in the efficiency, revenue generation and success of woman owned businesses. Chapter 4 - Your Business Plan should be open beside you when you are writing your own Business Plan because it provides some very practical advice and explanations. This book is fun and inspirational, but is also full of realistic suggestions and helpful information.

5 out of 5 stars The Best Book for Female Entrepreneuers!   January 13, 2007
There are many reasons why this book was my favorite out of all the "starting your own business" guides that I read. First, the authors extensively cover many facets of starting your business that others don't, e.g. insurance needs, creating a web site, pr campaigns. Friedman and Yorio also include "real life" examples in every chapter, based on their experiences along with many other professionals who have started successful businesses. What I liked most about this book above all others is that after reading it, you're ready to go. You have the information you need and all you need to do is act on it.
