One of the best October 5, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Vitaliy combines uncommon patience and a rigorous process, either of which hard to find anymore on Wall Street. Yet, these two ingredients remain the key to unusual success in managing money. That he is sharing some of the pages to his playbook and writes so well and clearly about them, makes him even more unusual. His readers are in for a treat.

Read this book to learn to value stocks! October 3, 2007 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
As a student of finance, Active Value Investing: Making Money in Range-Bound Markets provided me with new insights about the overall market and how to value individual stocks. The book details why the market is going to be a volatile place for years to come and provides a practical approach on analyzing stocks and calculating figures to buy good stocks at low prices and sell when they become overvalued. The book discusses complex models and topics in terms that are easy to understand and follow. Reading this book made me a better investor and I recommend it to anyone looking for a methodical way to determine buy and sell prices for any stock.

This book provides reader's with the vital link between finance theory and practical application. Katsenelson gives readers a roadmap to make money in a market environment that may not be all that hospitable to investors. In clear plain language the readers are treated to key investment analysis wiped clean of the mathematical theories and Wall Street jargon. Even the most serious individual investors can benefit from the insights that Katsenelson provides in a market that most folks have not experienced. Precise and well written which amkes for quite enjoyable reading.
Great Book for Investors of all Levels October 1, 2007 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
Active Value Investing has the hallmarks of all great investing books - easy to read, humorous at times, and most of all it demonstrates Vitaliy's investing process in terms accessible to the novice and expert alike. Despite it's title, this book is for bull, bear, or range-bound markets and will be highly recommended to our newsletter subscribers. I should add that I know Vitaliy personally and frequently discuss investing ideas with him - he's sharp, obviously knows his stuff and has that driving enthusiasm necessary to be a successful money manager.

A good valuation perspective September 28, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Every investor needs a model of what 'value' means to them. This book provides a good example of how to create such a model.
