Book Description
The number of people working from home, whether on a part or full time basis, has grown to nearly 50 million. There are many design books that take a decorative point of view for creating a home office, but there has yet to be a complete reference for home office users that covers topics from furniture selection to phone and fax lines. Set Up Your Home Office In a Weekend takes the complete approach to creating a home office by discussing everything from space needs to financial planning to software selection. Home office users will find coverage of such hot topics as setting up office space, selecting computer equipment, connecting to the world, and keeping track of the finances and records. Both the self-employed and small business owners will benefit from the information and resources found in this comprehensive reference.

5 out of 5 stars Manage the Nitty-Gritty Details of Setting Up a Home Office   September 22, 2000
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

This is a book about setting up a home office, from a very practical standpoint. You'll learn how to evaluate desks and chairs, how to estimate your computer equipment needs, what kind of window treatments are best for various purposes, and how to find out whether your neighborhood is zoned for home business use. But there is also substantial coverage of the everyday practicalities involved in setting up the "thinking" side of the business, like what tax forms you'll need, what your accounting and incorporation options are, what kind of equipment is necessary to take credit cards, and dozens of other little details that might not have even occurred to you. There are also tips and tricks for staying motivated, getting repeat business, and derailing distractions while being at home all day.
