3 out of 5 stars Helpful Beginner's Booklet   November 19, 2007

I'm new to real estate and real estate auctions so I found this booklet (actually a short book the size of cliff notes) pretty helpful. There are sections included which I found particularly helpful such as (1) what type of properties are best suited for auctions (2) when to auction a property (3) how to choose a reliable professional real estate auctioneer. I only wished there was more on how to do auctioning on your own, but I can see why this wasn't the focus since there is an entire profession devoted to professional auctioneering. A booklet like this is meant for the general consumer, not someone who is a professional auctioneer. People who seem to know a good amount on real estate such as the critical reviewers, and expect to learn how to conduct auctions themselves should find an auctioneering book, not this one.

Oh, by the way, I met the author at a children's charity event, and she is the sweetest person I've met. I just wished this book was more technical for me, but I should've known it is meant for beginners with a title of "101".

5 out of 5 stars Highly recommended   July 1, 2007

I posted a review recommending this booklet, but it did not show up. I cannot recommend this book enough for it started me in the right direction in selling one of my client's homes. I am a new real estate agent working part-time and getting a graduate degree in law. So I have NO time to sit through a long real estate textbook. I needed something quick. Thank God a handy booklet like this is around. It was the right choice and saved my client time and money in deciding to auction his home. I ended up looking like a veteran agent.

5 out of 5 stars Good starter booklet   June 23, 2007

A pretty good starter booklet to introduce you to real estate auctions as an option for selling your house. Many of the really good real estate salespeople use auctions for fast sales. Although this book won't show you step by step to auctioning off your house - you need a professional to do that - it does explain what real estate auctions can do, how this is an option, even how to find a good auctioneer.

1 out of 5 stars A pricey pamphlet   June 4, 2007

Be forwarned. This is a small 38-page booklet with plenty of white space and very little content. The advice is pretty basic, based largely on common sense rather than any special expertise or insights. Very disappointing.

1 out of 5 stars Auctions 101 - Not a pamphlet of any use   October 24, 2006

This is the 3rd time I've reviewed this pamphlet, and each time somehow the writer gets it removed.
Another reviewer Alan Saylor noted this pamphlet is disappointing and of no use, it consists of several pages printed on a desktop printer and contains no technical data or help, I consider it more than disappointing and of absolute no use, and returned it for a full and immediate refund.
There are several professionally written books that give in-depth help, this paper a person with zero experience could write in a half hour, it is a waste of money.
