Product Description
The Banker's Handbook on Credit Risk shows you how to comply with Basel II regulations on credit risk step by step, building on the basics in credit risk up to advanced credit risk methodologies. This advanced credit/risk management book takes a "new tools" approach to Basel II implementation. The hands-on applications covered in this book are vast, including areas of Basel II banking risk requirements (credit risk, credit spreads, default risk, value at risk, market risk, and so forth) and financial analysis (exotic options and valuation), to risk analysis (stochastic forecasting, risk-based Monte Carlo simulation, portfolio optimization) and real options analysis (strategic options and decision analysis). This book is targeted at banking practitioners and financial analysts who require the algorithms, examples, models, and insights in solving more advanced and even esoteric problems.
The book comes complete with a DVD filled with sample modeling videos, case studies, and software applications to help the reader get started immediately. The various trial software applications included allows the reader to quickly access the approximately 670 modeling functions, 250 analytical model templates, and powerful risk-based simulation software to help in the understanding and learning of the concepts covered in the book, and also to use the embedded functions and algorithms in their own models. In addition, the reader can get started quickly in running risk-based Monte Carlo simulations, run advanced forecasting methods, and perform optimization on a myriad of situations, as well as structure and solve customized real options and financial options problems.

* Only book to show bankers step by step how to comply with Basel II regulations on credit risk
* Over 150 hands-on software applications included on the DVD accompanying the book, including sample modeling videos
* Provides all the latest quantitative tools

5 out of 5 stars This is a must have for Risk Managers   July 3, 2008

The Banker's Handbook on Credit Risk: Implementing Basel II

The Banker's Handbook on Credit Risk: Implementing Basel II is a savior especially for the current mishap in Risk Management. The book sets itself apart from other Credit Risk related books by providing meticulous and industry-tested practical steps necessary in achieving Basel II Accords required for compliance.

As both an academician and a senior banker in Risk Management, I've seen plenty gaps existed between theoretical beliefs/discussions/rationalizations and actual industry practice as a result of either negligence/unconsciousness or lack of implementation skills and understanding the relevances in connecting the dots in the process. This work by Glantz and Mun has illuminated a dark tunnel that has existed in Risk Management in banking for many years and will take Risk Management to a different level. It is certainly needed especially in the current environment.

What I also liked about the book is the clarity and step-by-step approach that set concrete fundamentals, whether it is in understanding a particular concept or in solving an actual problem.

It is an indispensable reference for Risk Management and I recommend highly.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Book !!   May 22, 2008

An outstanding book, that allows the reader to go beyond words on a page, and get a real practical hands on knowledge, of risk modeling, focused in the area of banking and credit risk.

Clearly, Professor Glantz, and Dr Mun have an astonishing breadth of knowledge on the subject of Basel II, and risk modeling in general. In particular, using practical examples, they teach the reader / student, how to think in steps, when building models, and they give an excellent primer on various areas of banking, including the decomposition of cash flows, loan pricing, credit ratings, company valuation and building integrated exposure systems.

Although this is my first exposure to Professor Glantz writing, I have every book Dr Jonathan Mun has written, and I personally consider his books the finest yet written, on topics including real options, risk modeling, banking and credit. He has a gift for teaching, no question about it. I also recommend Dr Mun's "Modeling Risk: Applying Monte Carlo Simulation, Real Options, Optimization and Forecasting", which i personally consider the "bible" of risk simulation and analysis books, and the whole idea of making decisions under conditions of uncertainty.

1 out of 5 stars Don't Be stupid like me - Fake book - You cannot apply Basel II   May 14, 2008

This is an book where the author is trying to sell his very bad software.( 3 times in 7 freezing Excel 2003 ).
Because there is not data available in the DVD , you cannot apply in a software like SAS. Thus you will learn nothing.

You don't need to pay for this book.
